Today marks 24 days until i hit the BIG 3-0!
scared? a bit.
excited? a bit.

i just read liontamer's entry, [below this one that directed to her personal blog, it's a must read, btw.] and we must be on that same wavelength of personal expression, right now. [maybe it's this gloomy weather we've been having lately.] :/ but, yeah...i'd been feeling very reflective on my life too. i have taken many steps back to take a real look at my life. [oxymoron...steps back to look closer. ha]

is this where i had planned to be?
is this where i want to be?
is this where i am suppose to be?

10 years ago, i dreamt of living in the heart of a metropolitan city, working my butt off at a high-stress fashion|design job, and living it up with friends galore. i was in LA for 2 years (from 2001 - 2003)and i really did live it up - full time school, full time work at a 'fancy' gym, hanging with the friends and spending all my money. lol. when i got back here [little ol' silverdale], i knew i had gotten all of it out of my system. at 23 jessie and i got married after 5 years of dating [with 4 of those years, long-distance (that is a whole other story friends)] and at 25 i had nia. now, i am a part of this awesome company with awesome peeps, as well as run a teeny event planning company...

so, when i look over at my nia and at my jessie, it's easy to answer the questions above, with yes. it's where i am suppose to be, it's where i want to be, and where i planned to be ~ happy and loving my life.

for my birthday coming up i plan to share my happiness everyday with a Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) ~ maybe buy coffee for a stranger, make a donation to a charity, carry a bag full of groceries to a 'matured' persons car...i don't know. something, i promise. and i will share!

do you friends have any ideas on what i could do?

The day of looooove. Valentine's Day is just around the corner!! And I have never been less interested! Don't get me wrong...I am always all about Valentine's Day. But give me my husband returning from a deployment in Iraq any day and Valentine's Day is officially blown clear out of the water. However...we still want to do something nice...after all, it is Valentine's Day. About two weeks ago, I called a restaurant we both like to make Valentine's Day reservations. Little did I know that this particular restaurant did not believe in love, Valentine's Day, or having a good time. It's a shame really. Read on:
"Hi, are you accepting reservations for Valentine's Day?"
"Yes, we are!"
"Okay, I'd like to make a reservation."
"Okay, how many?"
"Two."
"Oh, I'm sorry. We only accept reservations of 4 or more..."
"........................even though.......it's......Valentine's Day?"
"Yeah."
"Okay...uh...uh...uh...uh...well...uh...bye..."
Yes. This is a true story. Some businesses just don't use common sense. So John and I are just going to have to find one that does. I boycott stupidity. Sorry unnamed restaurant. As lovely as your food is, I don't want to spend Valentine's Day eating with a crowd of people. Since I haven't seen my husband in over 6 months, I plan on having a romantic candle-lit dinner with him. Period. Reservation for TWO. Period. And YOU just don't cut the grade this Valentine's Day.
In fact...you know what? Screw restaurants! I'm going to make the kickest assest (true story) Valentine's Day meal EVER. Eat that!

Well...amazingly enough two weeks has just FLOWN by. I've enjoyed being in the office. It's truly a beautiful thing, the dynamic of the office. All the little quirky things that make it so great...I love it. And I love everyone. I missed you all and I will miss you when I leave tomorrow. Thank you for my chair back and for my very own desk back too. It's been great. I'll miss our workout ball stretch sessions and gab sessions in front of the giant mirror (an outsider must think this sounds so weird...) and of course foos (I finally played!!) and hearing people foos and lunches and early morning coffee and how much I love spying on Bainbridge Island people from my window. Sighhhhh...
The Christmas party was OFF the hook, as usual (we've gotta do an official blog on that, yo) and I seriously couldn't spend Christmas any other way than with you guys.

You are seeing correctly YOGA BALLS BOMBARDING LAURA'S DESK! TJ went around the office grabbing everyone's ball and totally trapped Laura into her space. LOL!

Oh, yes..and in the 2nd pics..I got up on the desk in front of her's and snapped a pics from that angle so you could see how enclosed she was. By the way, while TJ was strategically placing the balls, Laura was on a client call...the ENTIRE time!

She's so awesome..cause I don't know how I would have been able to contain myself from laughter!! Ahhh...good times!

The past week, I've stayed up until past 1am every night. Every. Single. Night. Over the weekend it was more like 3...4am. Most of the blame can be put on the Twilight book series (which I've finished. In a week. Yes. Thank you. Thank you very much.) but also just on the fact that...I don't really want to go to sleep when it's time and I find ways of avoiding it and then regret those ways when I finally wake up in the morning. I've always hated the snooze button. I mean how obnoxious. You get to sleep in 5 minute intervals and then get jerked awake repeatedly with the alarm again. I would always grab John's phone and turn the alarm off after it was going off to prevent him from hitting snooze cuz it drove me NUTS! Now, it's all I do. Snooze, snooze, snooze.
It's getting bad. To the point where I'm forgetting to do things. Normal basic things. Like washing my face or tattoo in the shower. Or turning on the lights. Or putting dryer sheets in the laundry. Or adding water to the coffee maker. Yeah. It's bad. It makes me worry what exactly I am doing at work. Like for real. Am I actually working or dreaming? Am I giving the right answers in tech support? Don't be alarmed. I've been pumping the caffeine all morning and am in a constant state of checking and rechecking my work to make sure I don't say anything stupid like 'Thank you for suing mywedding.com.' Oy.
Unfortunately I have one night this week that requires me to stay up. I bought a ticket to New Moon on Thursday. Opening night. And I can only imagine the headache that will ensue with all the screaming teenage girls (and boys I'm sure) in that small cramped theatre. But other than that I am determined to go to sleep. Early. Like...before 11pm. Which is early for me. What's my problem??

Latest tattoo. I am stoked. Stoke-a-loked. I got James 1:17 tattooed on my arm. I was reading our wedding vows the other day (and tearing up...cheeseball!) and a verse from the Bible in John's vows stuck out to me. I suddenly realized with chills that not only is James 1:17 an amazing and powerful verse, but 1.17 is also our WEDDING date too. I thought maybe he planned that so I checked with him. NOPE. Totally not planned. It feels like such a huge gift. I've been searching for the perfect verse for awhile now. I knew I finally found it. Or more...it found me.

We seem to be having an issue with the "toilet paper roll changings." For a while, it was good...and all of a sudden...BAM!

Dear Katy goes in to take care of business...to her surprise and disappointment, she finds not just an empty roll of toilet paper on the holder, but a new one sitting on top of it.

C'mon 'mystery non-changing the toilet paper' person, just a couple more steps and you would have been victorious!

I present to you...a nifty 'step-by-step' guide to help you through it, created by our very own, Ashley.

Yes, folks...she demonstrated and photographed herself defeating this difficult task to assist those who are too ashamed to ask for any help. And it is displayed, where? Well, conveniently right above the toilet paper roll holder. Good thinkin' lincoln.

So...I confess. I started reading the Twilight books. Last night. And I'm already over a third way through the first. Yes. I'm a nerd. Some people may be fuming with uncontrollable (and unexplainable) anger right about now at the idea of this...but hey...it's actually a very good book...and I'm enjoying it. And it gives me something to do at night besides avoid sleep because I miss my husband (cue pity)...I heart reading. Of course...reading a romantic book about a sexy vampire doesn't exactly help the situation. But...that's besides the point.

I also bought a ticket for midnight November 19th to see the first showing of New Moon with several of my friends. *guilty smile*

What?? Don't look at me like that!! You know you're just friggin JEALOUS and Edward totally likes me MORE!!! *tear*

It's FRIDAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

It's been one of those weeks so I am beyond stoked that it's over. Early-week I ran out of milk...and never had a chance to run out and get any. Then this morning I ran out of creamer mid-making coffee. Yeah. Crap. But thankfully I had the brilliant idea to use eggnog instead. YUM!! Big fan. Who needs creamer anyway?

Last night I went to Outback for the second time ever. And it proved itself worthy of my attention again. The last time I went there I was backward motorboated (Yes...I coined the phrase. Basically, it's when someone brushes their boobs against the back of your head. YUUUUUCK.) by a well-endowed waitress. Most awkward moment. Instead of reaching around to the right or left of me to put my plate in front of me, she decided the best tact would be to wrap her arms around me and place it over me...like a 4 year old...all the while brushing the back of my head (more like SMACKING the back of my head) with her boobs. What. The. Crap. To make things even crappier, my meal looked like I had done something to offend the kitchen. When the waitress asked for my order, she asked 'Do you want a potato with that?' Now NORMALLY in NORMAL LIFE, this would mean she was asking if I wanted an ADDITIONAL potato. You don't ask someone if they want the garnishes that come with their meal already. Because that's just retarded. Well...in this case, she was retarded. My meal came and was a ginormous place with two tiny little pork chops in the very center...and nothing else. Nada. No garnishes, no sides, nothing. I looked at my friend like "What did I do??" And this was after recovering the boob incident.

Thankfully, no boob incidents occured last night (male waiter....fewf!) although he did crack a joke about his divorce which was super awkward. But the food was good...and I actually got garnishes and sides! What a treat. Ha.

So...share your awkward restaurant horror stories. NOW.

today i came into the office, and my computer was deceased. yes. dead. the dreaded blue screen of deathy deathdom. i also happened to have my camera with me, with it's new beautiful lens (that i only got yesterday) attached. so naturally, i did what anyone would do. no, i didn't drink a swig of toilet water. that's just gross. no, you weirdo, i took a few pictures.

Jeez Chineez: Breakfast with Georgie

I know not everyone loves cats so I will try not to make this a regular thing. But I have to share sometimes how odd and funny my kitties really are. For example, George will eat anything. Really. Anything. He's already had stomach surgery for eating a plastic razor sharp "star." I still have yet to figure out what exactly it is. Yes, they gave it back to me after the surgery and yes I still have it. Yes, gross. I know. But he will truly eat anything. And this is how I spend most mornings and most breakfasts (except photoshop elements is not usually on the menu). With him staring greedily into my cereal or oatmeal or cream of wheat (mmmm) bowl. I have caught him countless times with an entire mouthful of mini-wheats before when I wasn't looking. Hence why I never let my cereal out of my sight now days. Both of my cats like watermelon (you can watch a video of this on my facebook) and my other cat Bean is convinced she likes coffee grounds. I don't think it's true. But she is convinced nonetheless. George also has an obsession with his own butt. He likes to wake me up in the morning by mooning me. I don't know what his deal is.
All this is to say...my cats are weird. But aren't they all? Ni-col-a can attest to this.

My cat George believes that I am a piece of furniture. This photo is one of the many examples of this fact. He sits on the back of my chair and gradually slides down until his rump is resting comfortably against my hard skull. It's definitely a neck workout...on a daily basis. If he doesn't come and sit on my chair/head in the morning, I know something is wrong. It's just his daily routine. My neck is getting very strong as he gets bigger. I could probably karate-head-butt someone to pieces and not break a sweat. Some people might think this is obnoxious that he does this (and it probably would be to anyone else) but it is one of the many reasons I love my kitties. They are the best company (especially while John is away) and are always making me giggle like a school girl. That and they're good warm neck rests (you can't beat a purring neck rest, now can you?).

So...I feel the need to share with everyone...I, Rachel, made a big purchase last week. I bought my very first NICE leather designer bag. Yeah...I know. Unbearable excitement. I can just hear you guys (YOU GUYS!!!) throwing a party for me. Anyways...(SARCASM..HA)...I just had to share...considering I don't even like the WORD 'purse' and still have a serious pact to never buy sweaters because they and I don't agree or get along. Ever. Even though I think they're very cute on other people. Not sure what sweaters had to do with my new bag but I'm sure it has to do with something along the lines of me being weird with certain aspects of fashion. ANYWAYS...it's German (Shnell!), it's flipping awesome, it smells like heaven, and I'm in love. WEEEEEEE!!!

So I am officially a jerk face. And I'm even more of a jerk face...because I don't really feel bad about what I did.
I told someone their "Chinese" tattoo didn't mean what they CLAIMED it meant. If everyone doesn't know this about me already, I get really heated about Chinese (having grown up in China) and even more so about Chinese tattoos on people who don't speak a lick of Chinese. Now I have plenty of friends with these tattoos...and it's all good. For the most part, I just try to close my eyes and ignore people with Chinese tattoos all together because trying to read them just pisses me off because 99% of the time...it does NOT mean what they truly believe it means. Or better yet. It means NOTHING at all because it's written wrong.
Well...I ran across a gossip blog online while looking for tattoos (practically a daily occurrence...looking for tattoos I mean...) and there it was. The Chinese tattoo and the claimed "meaning." And I just lost it. I said THAT'S IT!! and went and translated it with my trusty online Chinese dictionary (because John's Chinese dictionary was printed in the states...which means it's MISSING half the vocabulary...stupid!! And of course MINE was no where to be found...) to make sure I had the meanings right and then wrote the person and told them I hated to be the bearer of bad news but their tattoo actually meant this that and the other. I can't say I didn't feel extremely smug and smartassy afterward...and a little bad also. And that smug/bad feeling still lingers. But a huge sense of relief also has remained...because I ALWAYS hold this stuff in and I finally just said it how it was and they can take it however they'd like.
So...there's my rant for today. Hopefully someone found it interesting/entertaining/unoffensive.

Our lunch time routine: foos before food!

Usually we play a couple games and then all mob over to the kitchen to heat up our lean cuisines or healthy choice lunches. Today was no different...except for the...crazy foos ball games we played.

Teams: Megplant & Marci vs Ash & JeeVee

We all had the giggles. Well, especially after Ash starts laughing, it's contagious, I SWEAR! Plus, we all had super-extra-strength-power hits, and we were all making bizarre shots! Dare I rub in that Ash & I still won 6 games! :)

So...we enjoy a little lunchie...and then played a game with the boys.

So, this morning...I get to my desk, and there's this...frog...next my candy dish! No...not a REAL frog thilly - a PRETEND one! lol!

Well, intrigued by the mystery of this frog...I quickly inspected it and saw a button! Yes, you know I pushed it!!

It started singing...and boppin it's head side to side. It was loud for a little frog. There was no "OFF" option! It was a looooooong song. Right Meg? haha.

In any case, it wasn't going to live on my desk...so, I found a home for it. Right between mine & Megs desk. It seemed fitting, especially with some greenery around it...seee:

Anyways, Mr. Frog did bring an interesting start to my Monday! Let's see how the rest of the day goes!

Well there you have it folks...(folks?)...NEW BACKGROUND! I was told to find something quirkier and this is what ensued. Still playing around so if someone hates it, keep it to yourself and spare my dignity. Just kidding. Well I sure like it. Obviously. Hopefully someone else will too. Or everyone. Cool.
Okay. It's past midnight and I'm making backgrounds for our blog. I have no life. Going to bed! Someone else post something so it aint just the Gretchen & Rachel show. I can just hear the theme music now...
P.S. The reason I mostly chose this background, by the way in case anyone cared, is because it made me think of Seattle and it made me think of traveling because of me being so far away. So there you have it. :)

I am beside myself stoked about this idea of a blog for us all to ramble our thoughts. I am in stitches reading our monthly newsletter every single dang time and the thought of a blog where everyone can contribute their wit and character makes me...well...stoked. So I repeat myself. Deal.
I miss everyone! I especially miss the energy of the office. Like...for realz. A LOT. Being way over here is a very disconnecting feeling and I miss hovering over Jee Vee's desk watching random youtube videos (usually about weddings...usually) and just enjoying the whole office's company...especially in the kitchen in the early morning. Everyone is so much more interesting in the morning. But now I'm here and I miss it all...and hear about all the fun everyone is having and feel left out! (Ehem...still waiting on my Summer Olympics T-shirt. Just sayin is all...)
So...yes...this blog idea is awesome and about darned time. So chatter away everyone. Go ahead and rub it in on how much I'm missing everything in the northwest. You're just jealous I live close to a beach! :(
